Delft design for diversity thesis award

Diversity Equity and Inclusion are crucial for the quality of education, as they support epistemic justice: the idea that knowledge production must be inclusive, that knowledge produced from a variety of perspectives is more innovative and where the production of knowledge recognises and values diverse life stories and experiences.

About

In order to improve the quality of higher education in The Netherlands, higher education institutions make agreements with students and lecturers through the national ‘Kwaliteitsafspraken

Diversity Equity and Inclusion are crucial for the quality of education, as they support epistemic justice: the idea that knowledge production must be inclusive, that knowledge produced from a variety of perspectives is more innovative and where the production of knowledge recognises and values diverse life stories and experiences.

The societal relevance is straightforward. Dutch society and the world at large are increasingly more diverse. Future architects, urbanists, planners, managers and engineers must address the needs of a multitude of stakeholders who have different needs and aspirations. This award aims to highlight work being done by students at BOUWKUNDE (the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment), TPM (Technology Policy Managements) and IO (Industria Design) of the Delft University of Technology. These schools are included in this programme as a pilot. In the future, other units at TU Delft are expected to join. Please read the page on eligibility to see if you can apply.

TU Delft gender equality plan

TU Delft strives to be a safe, diverse and inclusive learning and working environment for all staff and students. Realising this ambition requires courage and the participation of everyone within the TU Delft community. It starts with having an open dialogue within the TU Delft community about equality, diversity and inclusion in respect of the visible and non-visible differences among all staff and students. To this end, TU Delft has different dedicated resources that contribute to a safe, diverse and inclusive environment.

INTEGRITY POLICY

Showing consideration for others and for other people’s values, and respect for other people’s property: these are things we usually do automatically. It also goes without saying that we promote the interests of TU Delft in our work and handle public funds responsibly.
